Regarded as a pest of Citrus fruit worldwide this species has been accidentally imported into Britain on the foodplant but it is unlikely to become established as neither it or the foodplant is able to survive the winter here outdoors. The shallow winding silvery mines can be found on the leaves or occasionally in the fruit peel of almost any Citrus species. Records can technically only be accepted if the mines are tenanted or adults are recorded or bred through as a vacated mine could have completed its life cycle prior to arrival at the recording site. A single vacated mine was found and photographed on the leaf of a 1 metre high Citrus limon plant for sale at the Arnison Centre in Pity Me on 5th March 2008.
