Species account (old)
This very local species is little known anywhere in the country but appears to frequent dry calcareous grassland when it does occur. Emmet in his 'Field Guide' gives Helianthemum or Atemesia campestris as possible foodplants, and this would agree with its Durham stations. Robson and Gardner found it occasionally about Blackhall Rocks where Heianthemum is plentiful, and more recently one came to light at Thrislington Plantation on 11-7-1986, one of the richest Magnesian Limesone sites in the country, where H. chamaecystis is one of the dominant plants.
