A polyphagous species, favouring thistles and knapweeds in particular, this moth occurs abundantly throughout [...] wherever any waste ground occurs as well as hedgerows, waysides, and woodland verges, etc. Though having very similar habitat requirements these three species exhibit a distinct temporal succession, as indicated below:- U. olivalis early-mid June (vc 66 per TCD) late June- mid July [...] U. prunalis late June-early July (vc 66 per TCD) mid July- early August [...] U. lutealis late July - early September (vc 66 per TCD) late July - end August [...]
