Yellow Horned
Achlya flavicornis

Species account (old)
Robson had no doubt that this species would be found in most parts [...] where there was plenty of birch, the foodplant of the larvae. This has proved to be a fairly accurate assessment [...] Otherwise except for coastal areas [...] most of Durham [has] records, either of larvae or imagines, though Castle Eden Dene is the only site for the species so far recorded on the magnesian limestone plateau. The moths are on the wing in March and early April, when they rest during the daytime on the underside of twigs of young birches. In this position they are difficult to find unless the twigs are gently turned over, when they soon become evident.
