Vapourer
Orgyia antiqua

Species account (old)
Thinly distributed throughout the area in Robson's time, it became scarcer after the turn of the century [...] although J. W. H. Harrison had recorded it from three more Durham sites in 1919, and from Waldridge Fell in 1925. [...] Sheppard & Eyre found it widely distributed in the Derwent Valley in 1976 & 7 and in 1981. R. Woods rediscovered it on Waldridge Fell after an absence of 56 years. He also found it on Black Banks, Knitsley Fell (near Wolsingham) in 1982/3 and in the Rosa Shafto Estate near Spennymoor in 1984, while M. E. Blunt reported it from Oakerside Dene Lodge at the edge of Castle Eden Dene in 1983.
