This species is, and always has been since Robson's time, a common and widespread moth, from the coastal sand dunes through suburban gardens, hedgerows and woodland verges to the high, wet moorland in the west [...] commonly reaching [...] the 386m. contour at Langdon Beck. Moths are on the wing from as early as the middle of May in coastal areas (early June in the higher areas to the west) up to mid-July. [...]
