Small Dusty Wave
Idaea seriata
Species account (old)
This is another species about which Robson was completely confused, indeed he lists two taxons under the trivial name 'Small Dusty Wave'. It is a very common species, widely distributed and it is particularly noticeable that many of the records are from suburban gardens. TCD finds it each year on his house walls as well as in the Rothamsted trap. It also turns up in waste places like railway embankments, hedgerows, etc. We think the list of records might be increased further if recorders were to try to identify what they must often dismiss as a 'micro' and therefore impossible!
