Species account (old)
Robson could only record two sites for this moth [...] He found it commonly in Hart Lane in 1856 and successive years, and Sang took it at Darlington in 1864. Since then, the discovery of larvae feeding on Bartsia seeds by the late Professor J. W. H. Harrison in 1918 and subsequently breeding through to the imago stage, resulted in a number of records in the 1920's and '30's. Most of these discoveries were in Birtley and nearby localities as well as at Ebchester, Washington and Killingworth. [...] A little diligent search in Bartsia seed heads ought to produce many more sites.
