Grass Emerald
Pseudoterpna pruinata
Species account (old)
Robson said of this species 'exceedingly local, and has been very seldom met with'. He thought that [this countywas] at the extreme limit of its range. [...] It seems to be considerably more common in Durham [than Northumberland] where most districts except the upland areas of Weardale and Teesdale have provided records. Coastal sites (Denemouth, Castle Eden Dene) are represented as well as rough gorsy grassland and woodland. M.Mann recalls seeing it in swarms On Waldridge Fell one year in the 1970's but this is an unusual occurrence. It is usually in small numbers.
