Xanthorhoe decoloraria
Species account (old)
This is a moth of our upland regions where it is found flying over moorlands where there are open grassy patches. It is said to feed on various species of Lady's Mantle (AIchemiI/a spp.). More rarely some records have been submitted from lowland, non-moorland areas-for example, University Field Station, Durham, Billingham Bottoms and Bolam, near Darlington. Although AIchemiIIa spp. grow on lowland sites it is possible that these lowland records are merely windblown strays. Although widespread in its favoured habitats it is never in very great numbers.
