Species account (old)
Robson described this species as 'scarcely known in our [county]', and he had no recent records. [...] F. B. Stubbs took it at a portable light on the outskirts of Crook between 1965 and 1977, and the Hamsterley Forest trap has received visitors each year since 1983. These are the only Durham records. It has not been found in the Upper Teesdale NNR in spite of trapping over many years, nor has it yet appeared in Upper Weardale. Larvae have been reported from heather, bilberry and birch, with 'stung' larvae on hawthorn and grass.
