Species account (old)
Robson described this species as '. . . well distributed [...] and....generally common', and this assessment holds good today. [...] In Durham it is very common, and occurs even on the high ground at Langdon Beck in Upper Teesdale and at Salters Gate, and also in coniferous woodland at Chopwell and Hamsterley Forests. Normally single brooded this far north (late June to August) there are occasional records from mid-May to early June in favourable seasons, coupled with the occurrence of fresh specimens in September, suggesting that on occasions it may be bivoltine.
