Beaded Chestnut
Agrochola lychnidis
Species account (old)
Robson's comment that 'This species probably reaches the northern limit of its range within [Durham and Northumberland]' was remarkably accurate for its time, as the species is decidedly rare over the Border even today. [...] The moth is widespread and common throughout Durham, appearing in all the lists. In some years for example in the Chester-le-Street trap, it is in considerable numbers. It flies from the last week in August throughout September arid October.
