Species account (old)
Widely distributed and abundant to common everywhere in Durham [...] This is another very variable species [...] not only in the tone and markings of the forewings, but also in the colour of the hindwings almost concolourous specimens of a general deep brown hue are not uncommon [...] The moth has a long flight period, from about the second week in June [...] to late August [...] but we regard it as entirely univoltine [...].
