Species account (old)
This species certainly used to be common and widely distributed on all areas of acid moorland within our [county], and remains so today as far as Durham is concerned, with records from Muggleswick, Burnhill, Salter's Gate, Hunstanworth Edmundbyers, Knitsley Fell and Waldridge Fell of imagines (often several) seen in flight. [...] TCD records that from larvae obtained from various sites he reared nine imagines and six parasites with great difficulty. Being essentially diurnal, the moth is not recorded in any of, light traps. In our latitudes it flies from early June [...] until about mid-July, on bright sunny days.
