Species account (old)
[...] TCD took specimens (no more than one or two a year) at Chester-Ie-Street, always in late June or July in a M.V. trap from 1954 to 1965 - in which year the M.V. trap was replaced by a Rothamsted trap. Since then, moths have only been recorded there on 25-26 June 1973 (two singles). Otherwise, one was taken at Birtley by J. W. H. Harrison on 31 August 1949, and McAndrew and Williams reported it in small numbers on nine nights during the period 8-26 August 1976 in Hartlepool. Again we suspect that the June-July records represent evidence of a local population in the Chester-Ie-Street area, with the August records suggesting the arrival of occasional waves of immigrants.
