Clouded Brindle
Apamea epomidion
Species account (old)
Robson noted 'Far from a common species, though widely distributed [...]', and more recent records have failed to improve on this. [...] [...] in Durham, [...] it may be even scarcer [than Northumberland]. J. P. Robson recorded it in Teesdale as common in some years, about 1927, but all his captures were on the south side of the river in vc 65 (Vase. 13, 145). Apart from this, there are only two recent records: D. A. Sheppard took it in Castle Eden Dene and a single specimen appeared in the Hamsterley Forest trap on 6 June 1981 (TCD).
