Apamea monoglypha
Species account (old)
Abundant and widespread, roaming widely to well above the 300m. contour. In season, it must vie with N. pronuba as being the commonest Noctuid. Fully melanic forms occur commonly, and there is a steady gradation between these and the type-form. All the permanent traps take it, often in three-figure totals. The moth is on the wing regularly from about the third week in June, and only slightly later at elevation, until the beginning of September, in one continuous emergence, there being no evidence for a second brood in these latitudes.
