Species account (old)
Not quite as abundant, nor as fond of the higher stretches of moorland as the previous species [Autographa pulchrina], it nevertheless ascends up most of the river valleys [...] In more lowland areas [...] it occurs in all the lists [...] The moth normally flies from the third week in June to the end of August [...] It is thus by no means 'about two weeks later than A. pulchrina' as stated in MBGBI, 10, 345) - in fact in most seasons there is no more than a day or two difference, if that, and in a late spring the two will often appear together.
