Brachylomia viminalis
Species account (old)
Robson noted this species as 'Not by any means common [...]' but it has increased appreciably since then, now being widely distributed and locally common [...]. It can be found in most areas where Sallows are present [...] and is a very characteristic species of moorland verge habitat with Birch/Sallow scrub. Dark grey forms are more frequent inland, but on Waldridge Fell all black imagines form more than 90% of the population. The species sometimes appears late in June, but is more frequent from July to the end of August.
