Broom Moth
Ceramica pisi
Species account (old)
One of the most widespread of the noctuid moths, being catholic in its choice of foodplant. It is perhaps most plentiful on moorland verge habitat, where bracken is a favoured pabulum, and on mature dune formations along the coastline, but It takes not unkindly to cultivated land as well. It has occurred at all the permanent trapping sites [...] and is in all the lists, though not usually in any great numbers, and TCD notes it as rather less plentiful than in the 1950's and 196O's. The moth flies from the beginning of June to the end of the first week in August, in the lowlands, and from mid-June to mid-July at altitude.
