Species account (old)
A common and widely distributed species, though uncertain of appearance due to the unpredictable weather conditions of the early spring months. All the permanent traps take it, however, often in some numbers.[...] The distribution of this species tends to be rather patchy in northern England generally. In Durham, however, it is generally distributed and common, being found at Sallow blossom every year. It occurs in all the permanent traps, and in every other list. It is on the wing from mid-March to the end of May, and up to a week later in the higher areas of the west.
