Diloba caeruleocephala
Species account (old)
As with many Notodontids, this species is widely but thinly distributed over most of our area, being most frequently encountered in the larval form [...] In Durham there are many records also, it appearing in most of the lists and being taken at all the traps except that at Chester-le-Street. There are very few records, however, from the magnesian limestone plateau sites of east Durham, although it occurs in Castle Eden Dene: woodland sites are the only localities for it here. It also tends to fight shy of urban areas, as at Chester-le-Street, where it has not been seen in 35 years of intensive working. Larvae are found most frequently on Blackthorn, although Hawthorn and Apple are also well patronised.
