Species account (old)
A widespread and common species, more particularly along the coastal lowlands and in suburban areas. [...] In Durham it [...] occurs almost everywhere, having even been taken in the (furthest west) Langdon Beck trap, though not yet in that at Hamsterley Forest. Very dark forms can occur, but they are rather infrequent. The moth is on the wing from the end of the first week in June through into early September, in a single prolonged emergence.
