Species account (old)
Nearly as widespread, but not quite so abundant as pronuba [...] Some individuals show a dark mark at the costal end of the subterminal line, that may at times be sufficiently sharply defined as to cause confusion with orbona, but this mark is never truly black, as in that species, which moreover differs in possessing three distinct black marks more or less evenly distributed along the costa, and a better defined discal mark on the hindwing. Comes is on the wing from mid-July to late September or even mid-October, in a prolonged emergence and a great variety of forms. Coastal areas tend to produce very pale sandy forms, and reddish individuals [...].
