Stout Dart
Spaelotis ravida
Species account (old)
There are a few 19th century records [...] As there is now the suggestion (MBGBI 9, 164) that this species may be an occasional immigrant to the east coast, the records appear to be worth mention, Particularly as all the Durham records about this time that Robson quotes were also coastal. [...] Durham [...] has two more recent records. D. A. Sheppard took it at light in Castle Eden Dene quite regularly during the 1970's, suggesting that a colony still survives there, and M. Mann captured one at Sacriston at sugar on 8th August, 1979. These records seem to indicate the present northerly limit of the (decreasing) range of this species in England.
