Neglected Rustic
Xestia castanea
Species account (old)
A widely distributed, but generally uncommon species of moorland and heathery woodland, that Robson predicted 'will be found no doubt on all the [...] moors [...] in the west of Durham'. [...] In Durham it is very local, being found mainly on the high moors in the west, as in Teesdale at Middleton-in-Teesdale, Sun Wood (High Force) and Langdon Beck. It also occurs at Hamsterley Forest, but not often (only two in five years), and the only lowland site is at Waldridge Fell, where it can be taken quite regularly.
