Short-cloaked Moth
Nola cucullatella
Species account (old)
[...] There are three records for Durham: it appears on a Sunderland Museum B.R. card L88 for 1970 (no authority given); one was in the Bolam (Darlington) trap on 4 July 1976, and M. Mann has taken a few regularly each year since 1979 at Sacriston. There is evidently a thriving colony somewhere near the trap site which has not yet been pin-pointed, although some searching has been carried out. These records represent the present most northerly extent of the range of the species in the British Isles.
