Another scarce species [...] The collectors in Robson's time had never seen the moth, having only found larvae, as at [...] Hesleden Dene (27 July 1890 and again later, J. E. Robson) and Upper Teesdale (John Gardner) none of which they managed to rear. [...] J. W. H. Harrison took larvae [...] at Beamish (vc 66) in 1918 [...]. There were no further records until D. A. Sheppard and M. Eyre took it at a number of sites in the 1970's-Hisehope Valley (vc 66) on 8 May 1976, Harthope (66) on 17 May 1976, Copley (66) on 19 May 1976, Graham's Flat [...] on 20 May 1976 [...] TCD now finds one or two in the Hamsterley Forest trap each year (since 1981) [...]. [...]
