This is probably the commonest of the clearwings in our [county], although a species are so retiring that it is impossible to be certain of the abundance of any of them. The Lunar Hornet Clearwing is widely distributed northwards into Scotland. The latest specimens to be seen in vc 66 were on Waldridge Fell sallows in 1977 and 1978 by M. Mann [...].
