Stigmella trimaculella
Species account (old)
In vc 66 Sang recorded the species as "common' for several places in and near Darlington. [...] [There] are three recent records all on hybrid poplars, from Horsleyhope Ravine NNR (29-10-1986, R. Wilson, det. T.C.D and conf. A.M.E.) Witton-le-Wear N. R. (22-10-87. TCD), and Chester-le-Street. The surprise was the first of the two records from Chester-le-Street, when it was casually noticed on the hybrid poplar in the garden, conf. A.M.E. (TCD 3-11-1986), followed by an imago in the Rothamsted trap on 7-9-1989, having in all probability come from the same tree.
