Species account (old)
This tiny all light grey species is easily overlooked and consequently, as yet, its distribution is not well known. There are, however, according to Agassiz in Proc. & Trans. Brit. Ent. & N. H. S., Vol. 20 Pt. 1, a few scattered confirmed records over the country as a whole, usually from forestry plantations, where the larva mines a needle of Pinus sylvestrias. Only recently (1960) distinguished from Ocnerostoma piniariella Zeller, which it closely resembles. A single specimen came to the Rothamstead trap in Chopwell Wood, a Forestry Commission plantation, on 20-5-1991 (vc 66, det. E. Bradford).
