Species account (old)
This rather local species was well known to Sang who reared it from larvae found on apple trees in many parts of Darlington. Also reared by Gardner from larvae found on Hartlepool sand hills. It is still scarce and local in spite of the abundance of its food plant. In vc 66 it turns up at intervals in the Chester-le-Street Rothamsted trap probably after feeding on TCD's apple trees, and also found on Waldridge Fell. [...]
