There was great confusion about the identity of instabilella during Robsons time, so that he decided to reject all records that had not been seen by Bankes apparently the only lepidopterist who could separate the four closely related maritime species [see Scrobipalpa samadensis, Scrobipalpa salicorniae, and Scrobipalpa samadensis]. He accepted two specimens from John Gardner that were collected at Teesmouth, feeding on Halimione portulacoides. We have not met with further specimens in vc 66 recently [...]. [...]
