Acleris hastiana
Species account (old)
The synonymy here would run to nearly a full page for this extremely variable species, as each new form was originally allocated to full specific status. Fortunately the situation was well known to the earlier writers, so we have omitted the complexities here. It is not a common moth in the north east, though met with in a few places where Salix aurita, or Prunus spinosa has been established for a long time. In vc 66 it is widespread but found in only small numbers, mostly by searching by torchlight the newly opened salix catkins in March and April (TCD). [...]
