Chinese Character
Cilix glaucata
Species account (old)
Though Robson had relatively few occurrences to record, he thought the species would occur 'commonly throughout the cultivated parts [...]'. [...] In Durham the species is seen most frequently in the central Tees, Wear and Derwent valleys, and on the eastern limestone plateau, but never in very large numbers. The furthest west so far is at Crook (F. Stubbs, 1965-77) and at Barnard Castle (J.P. Robson, 1915 and the l920's) but I. Findlay has not yet taken it in Upper Teesdale nor has it been seen in the Hamsterley Forest trap. Most records refer to the period late May to early July, but occurrences are not infrequent up to mid-September, with a slight peak in late August, suggesting a partial second brood in favourable years.
