Triphosa dubitata
Species account (old)
This species is reputed to be widespread over England and Wales but never in great numbers. Robson records isolated captures [...] that is the pattern today [...] P. Robson took it once at Barnard Castle in October 1945 and R. Harris recorded it between Birtley and Chester-le-Street on 20 September 1957 (Vasc. 425). TCD found a single specimen on the wall bordering the main road between Birtley and Chester-le-Street at North Lodge in September 1963. [...] The foodplants, common buckthorn and alder buck-thorn barely reach the southern border of County Durham, but there are some scattered plants in that area, and others may have been planted in gardens and parks.
