Species account (old)
In vc 66 this species has proved to be widespread and very common [...] Its caterpillar burrows inside the flowering shoots of cherry (Prunus cerasus) and descends to the ground to pupate. Agassiz gives June and July as the period when adults are on the wing [...] we rarely see it in June, the flight period here being July and August with some individuals surviving until the beginning of September.
