Species account (old)
This is a rare moth in any part of Northern England. The authenticity of records is also often in doubt because it is so easily confused with the much commoner E. alniaria. Robson gave two records, both in the Derwent Valley by Hedworth and H. Sticks. The latter record is probably a good one as Sticks found the caterpillars (sparingly) and bred them through. Strangely enough there is no modern record from this area, which has been worked intensively in recent years. [...]
