Canary-shouldered Thorn
Ennomos alniaria
Species account (old)
Robson found this ' ... a rare species[...]'. This no longer holds good today for we find it almost everywhere. It is in all the lists and taken over a long period in most of the traps. There is some variation in the depth of colour and when this occurs on the thorax so that it approaches the colour of the wings, then mistakes in identification can occur. This is why we have reservations about the occurrence of its near relatives in our [county].
