Recording information

 

The Durham Moth database has more than 532,000 records of over 1400 species, with the first record dating from the early nineteenth century. The County Moth Recorder for Durham is Tim Barker; records should be sent by email to timvc66@uwclub.net.  A spreadsheet for the submission of moth records from County Durham can be downloaded here. A record consists of the following as a minimun: a date, a grid reference, a species, and a count of that species.
 
All records we receive are important; they help us build up a picture of the moth biodiversity in Durham and how individual species are faring. Our database is shared regularly with Butterfly Conservation as part of the National Moth Recording Scheme
