Dysstroma citrata
Species account (old)
This species is extremely common and widespread in woodland areas particularly where birch and willows grow, although these are not its only foodplants. It is most frequently seen in the autumn, very roughly between the two broods of its near relative, C. truncata. The flight period, however, is quite useless as a guide to identification as much overlapping occurs, and attention must be paid to the angulation of the postmedian line of the hindwing (see Skinner, pp. 32-33). There is little doubt that several early records, before the range of variation of the two species was fully comprehended, are confused and unreliable. [...] in Durham [...] there are fewer records from the western part [...] It is, nevertheless, recorded from most of the traps and appears in most of the lists [...].
