Plain Wave
Idaea straminata
Species account (old)
This species could easily be passed over as I. aversata, the difference between the two being so slight. Robson recorded it from Blackhall Rocks, Hesleden Dene and Wolsingham [...] In recent times J. W. H. Harrison (1930) and H. Preston (1917) have recorded it from 'Durham County' and Blackhall Rocks respectively [...] We think that more critical examination of the plain forms of what at first sight are thought to be I. aversata, may yield a few more sites for. straminata. Apart from the difference in the subterminal line on the forewing, it usually settles in light traps with the forewings held more forward than does I. aversata.
