Scarce Tissue
Rheumaptera cervinalis

Species account (old)
Robson could find only a single record of this moth, that of R. W. Merryweather in 1864 at Hartlepool, and this was concluded to be a stray. Since then [two] other examples have turned up. J. P. Robson of Barnard Castle took it twice, on 25 May 1941 and 6 June 1942 [...]. It still seems unlikely that it is a resident species for the foodplant Berberis vulgaris, is probably scarcer today than it was in 1900. However, cultivated forms of Berberis have become much more popular with gardeners in recent years, and it is conceivable that these could provide the necessary sustenance if other ecological factors were suitable.
