Grey Chi
Antitype chi
Species account (old)
[...] In Durham, the moth is listed for all parts of the county and taken in every trap, some workers reporting it as common. Over the last 50 years the proportions of ab. olivacea to the type has changed markedly. In the 1930's, '40's and '50's very few type specimens were seen except in western parts of the dales. At Chester-le-Street TCD did not have a single type-specimen until the early 1960's. Since then proportions of this form have increased steadily, the change corresponding very roughly with the closure of the coal mines.
