Operophtera brumata
Species account (old)
Very abundant every winter everywhere. Caterpillars, too, seem to be in hordes on almost every tree and shrub. The males fly in quite severe weather as if impervious to the cold. The wingless females can be found slowly crawling up tree trunks on mild nights by searching with a torch. Males are found in all the traps and records are in all the lists.
