Species account (old)
Whilst at the turn of the century cowslip was believed to be the only foodplant, lousewort and golden rod are now recognized as acceptable pabula. Principally coastal in Robson's day and along railway embankments, etc., it can now be found at various inland sites in vc 66 at any rate, where a good growth of foodplant persists. Recent "improvement" of marginal pasture has resulted in a decrease in all three plants, with a consequent contraction in range of the moth, which is now uncommon at existing inland stations in that county.
